Purification and analysis of the Simian Virus 40 origin-binding domain (OBD) protein, a key component in viral DNA replication.
A laboratory coursework project focused on isolating and characterizing the SV40 OBD protein, which initiates viral DNA replication by binding to the viral origin of replication.
Standard protein purification techniques were used to isolate the target protein from a bacterial expression system. Purity and identity were confirmed using gel electrophoresis.
The exercise reinforced practical skills in protein biochemistry and provided a working understanding of viral replication initiation. Detailed results to be added.
